Launch!

Welcome to the company blog of Discovery Cruises! Our aim with this blog is to get to know our customers on a more personal level, find out what they like about our services, (as well as suggestions for improvement), and keep them up to date with the direction we're taking the company.

For those unfamiliar with Discovery Cruises, we're a South Florida Cruise line with daily service to Freeport, Grand Bahama Island. Because we depart daily, we offer passengers the choice of either one day Bahamas party cruises, or overnight packages, both with and without hotel accommodations in Grand Bahama . In essence, we're basically a ferry service with some of the more traditional amenities you might find on a longer cruise.

This would be a fine time to introduce myself as the writer of the blog.

Hi, my name's Alex.

I've worked for Discovery the past six years as a Vacation Specialist, in and out of part-time status as a student at the University of Miami. Upon my recent graduation from computer engineering, I'm now working towards bridging the gaps between the reservations, marketing, and IT departments here at Discovery. As such, topics of conversation are likely to run the gamut from daily specials to the highly technical. I'm very interested in gathering feedback through this blog, both on Discovery Cruise Line and the blog itself, so don't be shy.

Time to get our feet wet!

Hi Alex,

I sailed on Discovery in March during spring break and had a blast! I hear thay they are doing a cruise on New Year's Eve - sounds like it will be fun - will you be going?

@Mandy,

Hello, we are actually doing an evening cruise for New Year's. My girlfriend and I are most likely going to end up on the ship as well, everything else is so expensive these days. Last year was our first time, and we had a lot of fun.

Hope to see you there :)

I had the privilege of cruising to Freeport on the Discovery by mere coincidence. We had a funeral to attend in Freeport, and all the flights were booked. This was suggested to us by friends in Freeport. We had a delightful time onboard and this seems like a great way to relax and enjoy a few hours prior to arrival. It took just as long as it would have taken to drive to the airport and waiting for the flight. The ship arrived at Freeport just in time for us to drive to the services. We had the convenience of reserving a cabin where we showered and changed for the funeral services.
The whole concept is fantastic and worth the price.
I highly recommend the Discovery service to Freeport, and wished it also called Bimini where we also frequently visit.
